Zoe + Will, 'Singapore,' Gravesend.

Dearest Zoe & Will,

A huge and heartfelt congratulations to you both on your beautiful wedding.

What day. What a family.

So for those who didn’t know, I travelled from home (Narrabri) to Gravesend on Friday the 26th to spend some quality time documenting the big day that was the wedding of Zoe Lockhart and her Will Downes.

The venue was Zoe’s childhood home, ‘Singapore’ – and honestly, what a terrific backdrop – overlooking the hills, paddock, sun and trees. A photographer’s dream: awesome people, an awesome location, and awesome vibes from start to finish.

From the get-go my mission was simple: to do as little posing of people as possible and to just let these guys get on with the business of having fun and being who they were, among family and friends.  And that, we most certainly did!

There were so many highlights to this gorgeous day: the ever-present pooches (I am a huge lover of dogs so, yep, they feature a lot!); the divine handful of kids in attendance, the total adoration between Zoe and Will and their families, and the constant laughter, joy, and simple happiness.

I want to thank the Lockart and Downes families for their warmth and friendliness and for allowing me to slip in like part of the family and furniture. (And to Judy especially for the COFFEE that kept me on my feet for 12 hours. Hooray. I love coffee!!)

It was wonderful as always to see so many familiar faces and to be privileged as the official photographer for this really down-to-earth and wonderful couple, who are 100% my cup of tea in every single way.

Ditto to the bridal party – total legends. Love you all.

Thanks to all for helping me make it easier on our camera-shy couple. They smashed it in the end, I am sure you will agree.

Please enjoy this snippet of moments – and for more, Zoe + Will shall have the fully edited images in the coming months to disperse accordingly!

If you want to grab a particular shot of yourself, knock yourself out. Just tag either my business page @Shanna K Whan Photography or via Instagram - @sober_in_the_country

Happy strolling down memory lane.

Have a wonderful honeymoon, Mr and Mrs Downes. I hope your weather is SENSATIONAL and that you get to soak up all of the love from your family, friends, and each other.

There is a home-cooked meal, a spare bed, and a little blue heeler for pats any time you’re passing through the ‘Bri. As Jim Craig from Snowy River says: ‘’a man can be hard to find in these mountains, but you’re welcome at my fireplace any time’’. Same goes for all of you awesome humans.

Much love,

Shan x

About

Long before it was the done thing Shanna Whan was pioneering a strictly candid-style of photography to capture real life in all its glory, chaos, and imperfection. She’s been shooting for about 15 years across the north west and further afield nationally and she has more than earned her formidable reputation as one of the best. Her business is mostly word-of-mouth these days and she is blatantly very deliberate about where she spends her creative energy. She’s your go-to-girl if you want classic, classy, images with impact delivered with experience, skill, and from somebody who ‘gets’ rural people in every single way. She isn’t precious, and will be on the tools working hard from the moment she hits the ground. Her aim is to blend in and make the experience as fabulous for you as possible. Also: Shan is most happy when in the dust and dirt, surrounded by creatures, kids, and mayhem. Her secret? Well, she couldn’t have her own kids - so the energy and vast capacity for love that she holds in her heart for little people and animals is 100% heartfelt and true and brims over during her sessions. This is then translated through her art. A photo shoot with Shan is basically also a friendship for life. To enquire please message skwimages@bigpond.com or call 0487 685 475. Wedding bookings are limited and start at $5500 + travel + accom. etc > this is for a typical scenario of kicking off with ‘getting ready’ and through to the dancing. Family sessions (candid, of course) start at $550 for a family of 3 + travel + accom etc. > this is for a two hour candid, in-home, natural session. What the client gets: fully edited digital images to keep, wholly and solely - with no ‘hidden’ extra costs, and individual charges. Printing can be also arranged on request. Shanna has another life these days (you can check it out at www.soberinthecountry.com.au) and her speaking engagements have her often booked up and travelling. Keep an eye on her socials and she will, if possible, tie a shoot in with a speaking gig. PLEASE NOTE: If you have a pet, an aeroplane, a random idea - basically, something you want shot - holler. She will have a crack at anything within reason. Except cheesy poses, over-editing, and surreal photoshop. She won’t touch that with a barge pole. It’s natural or nothing with this gal x
